Care Home Training

Care Home Training

The training programme is for Blackpool care home staff and provides training to staff who care for residents with balance problems, falling episodes, dehydration and nutrition problems in order to identify areas for improvement. This is done with the use of an integrated assessment tool in order to reduce GP call-outs and hospital admissions. Training includes identifying those residents at risk with balance problems and or falls. Establishing and maintaining a register for those at risk of falling and to be a point of contact for expert advice.

The training programmes have been devised and delivered in partnership with other professionals and highlight evidence-based guidelines and best practice for staff, residents and families on nutrition, dehydration, continence, medicine management, falls and fractures prevention, and chair-based exercises.

The training content reflects national and local health priorities, training needs analyses, evidence, good practice and evalution. Appropriate learning outcomes and competencies are identified, relevant to the staff group being trained and a monitoring and evaluating process is undertaken.

The training is delivered free in the care homes on dates and times to suit the home.
